Utah, UCLA, ASU take home Pac-12 Gymnastics Weekly Honors

GYMNAST OF THE WEEK: MyKayla Skinner, SO, Utah (Gilbert, Ariz.)
 Led the No. 3 Utes to a 197.550-197.425 upset road win over the No. 2 Bruins last weekend.
 Won or tied for first on three of four individual events, scoring a near-perfect 9.975 on floor, 9.950 on vault and 9.925 on beam.
 Matched season-high scores in all three events where she took home gold.
 Scored a 39.625 to win her fifth all-around of the season, the 17th of her career. Currently holds the No. 2 spot in the nation in the all-around category with an average score of 39.600.
 Ranked in the top 20 in the country in all four events, placing No. 4 on vault, 8 on floor, 13 on bars, and 16 (tie) on balance beam.
 

SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK: Katelyn Ohashi, JR, UCLA (Seattle, Wash.)

•  Scored a season-high 9.9 on uneven bars in last week’s meet against the then-No. 3 Utes, leading her team in the event.
•  Tied for gold in the two other events, tallying a 9.975 on floor to tie with teammate Felicia Hano and Utah’s MyKayla Skinner. Also posted a 9.925 on beam to match Skinner and MaKenna Merrell-Giles.
•  Currently ranked No. 4 in the nation on balance beam, an event which the Bruins squad is ranked #1 in the country.
•  Claimed her first Pac-12 gymnastics weekly award this season, the seventh for team UCLA who have combined to earn every Pac-12 Specialist of the Week title this season.
 

FRESHMAN / NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Cairo Leonard-Baker, FR, Arizona State (Oakland, Calif.)

•  Helped No. 17 Arizona State to a 196.575 effort against No. 13 Washington (197.025), which marked the 25th-best team total in program history despite the loss.
•  Tied for the all-around title with Washington’s Hailey Burleson, posting a 39.525, picking up wins on bars (9.950) and floor (9.900), increasing her total wins this season to nine individual titles.
•  Led the Sun Devils in scoring on vault, bars, floor and the all-around.
•  Matched career-high scores on vault (9.850) and bars (9.950).
•  Now holds the No. 10 spot in the nation on uneven bars with an average of 9.893.
