Biography

Senior Season (2016-17)

Member of the All-Conference Second Team… Voted by coaches to Pac-12 All-Defensive Team… Led his team in steals (53) for the season… Began season with a bang with game-winning lay-up followed by victory-clinching steal in final seconds in season-opening win over No. 12 Michigan State in 2016 Armed Forces Classic in Hawai’i… Set and matched his career high in scoring with 18 points in back-to-back games against Colorado and Arizona State in first month of conference play…. Saw 5.1 percent increase in three-point field goal percentage from junior season, which had his 41.7 percent mark from deep lead Arizona… Similar improvement in free throw shooting percentages had him ranked tied for 12th in the Pac-12 in free throw percentage at 74.1 percent… Finished tied for fourth in the conference in steals at 1.6 spg… Dished out season-best eight assists in same game versus Arizona State (Jan. 12, 2017) that saw him match his career high in scoring with 18 points… Career-best five steals in win over Texas A&M (Dec. 17, 2016)… Missed one game because of sprained knee in season opener and both games at Washington schools due to finger dislocation.

Redshirt Junior Season (2015-16)

Emerged as Arizona’s everyday starting point guard in his first season on the hardwood for the Wildcats… Averaged 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game… Led Arizona in steals with 35… His 27 blocks were the most by any player 6-feet-3-inches or shorter in the Pac-12… Scored season-high 15 points in UA win over UNLV (12-19-2015)… Recorded UA’s only 10-assist game versus Oregon (1-28-2016)… Scored in double figures in 14 games for UA… Finished the last week of the regular season with a total of 12 assists to just one turnover versus Cal (3-3-2016) and Stanford (3-5-2016).

Junior Season (2014-15)

Elected to redshirt his first season as a member of the Arizona program. 

Prior to Arizona

Attended Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan. … Named 2014 National JUCO Player of the Year by both the NABC and NJCAA after being tabbed the 2014 NJCAA Preseason Player of the Year by the Sporting News … Named a first-team All-American by both the NABC and NJCAA in both of his seasons at Hutch, becoming the first player in school history to earn back-to-back first-team All-America nods … A two-time Jayhawk West Player of the Year and All-Region VI Player of the Year … Finished his JUCO career ranked second on the Hutch career assists list with 324 and third on the career scoring list with 1,425 points … Finished his Hutch career ranked in the program’s top-five in seven career categories … Ranked second in the NJCAA in scoring as a sophomore, averaging 25.9 points per game to go along with averages of 5.9 assists and 2.3 steals … Had the first two triple-doubles in Hutch history and set a program single-season record with 13 30-point games as a sophomore … Also set single-season school records for free throws (276) and free throw attempts (371), while his 854 points ranked third on the Hutch single-season list and his 194 assists ranked fourth … Named MVP of the 2014 NJCAA All-Star Game in Las Vegas … Averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 2012-13 to lead Hutch to a Region VI title and an NJCAA Tournament berth as a freshman … Led the Jayhawk Conference with an average of 2.5 steals per game and ranked third in the league with an average of 3.9 assists per game as a freshman … Coached by Steve Eck at Hutchinson CC.
