Oregon voted first in preseason softball coaches poll

SAN FRANCISCO - OREGON was voted first in the Pac-12 softball preseason coaches poll for the second-straight year, as announced by the Conference today. The Ducks garnered 64 points to top the polling, the most in the history of the Pac-12 coaches poll. UCLA was tabbed second with 51 points, while ARIZONA came in third with 49 points. 

WASHINGTON placed fourth in the polling with 42 points, followed by UTAH at fifth with 36 points, the Utes’ highest ranking in the poll since joining the Conference. CALIFORNIA came in with 32 points to place sixth, and ARIZONA STATE collected 27 points for seventh. OREGON STATE tabbed 15 points for eighth place and STANFORD rounded out the poll at ninth with eight points.

The reigning Pac-12 champion Ducks are ranked No. 4/6 in the NFCA and the ESPN.com/USA Softball preseason polls, joining six other Pac-12 teams in the polling: No. 7/7 UCLA, No. 13/15 Arizona, No. 20/19 Washington, No. 21/22 California, No. 22/20 Arizona State, RV/No. 23 Utah. 

The Pac-12 has dominated collegiate softball as 23 of a possible 33 national titles have been claimed by Pac-12 teams. The 2016 Pac-12 softball season begins Thursday, Feb. 11. For more information, including a full TV schedule, visit here.
